Hey Giddy Gang, get excited, because I have a pretty spectacular project to share with you this morning. If you’ve been around the DIY block for awhile, you’ve probably heard of IKEA hacks. People buy cheap furniture or decor pieces from IKEA, and then “hack” or upcycle them – changing the look, adding new hardware, accent pieces – you name it – to make it look much cooler than the original style.
I’ve seen a lot of them, but a recent makeover featured at Remodelaholics, by Sawdust2Stitches, took my breath away. Check out the “After” shot above, of a gorgeous looking, pottery barn style media cabinet. You won’t believe what the “before” shot looked like!!
She picked this up in the “scratch and dent” section of IKEA (you know the one where you pick up slightly abused pieces for fractions of their already cheap prices). After using it for a couple of years, she decided she wanted to give it a makeover. Would you ever guess it was the same one???
Click on over to Remodelaholics to check out the full project, and see step by step, how she created this gorgeous statement piece for her family room. >>
